Frame of the month - May

May 31, 2017

Just made it in time, June starts tomorrow!

This months frame isn't one I made, but the artwork is so unusual I thought I'd show it to you all.

It is a Chinese scene, delicately made in 3D from cork wood. The detail is wonderful, the people in the boats have oars, the buildings have free standing columns and the trees have layers of branches. The scene is mounted in its original silk covered board with a narrow black frame.

My task was simply to take it to pieces and clean the inside of the frame and glass. A nerve wracking job, but it made the piece so much nicer to look at.
