Why choose a bespoke picture frame?
Yes, a bespoke frame will be more expensive than one bought on the high street, but what you will get is a frame that enhances and protects your picture or object and will last for many years.
Protect your artwork.
All artwork is affected by moisture and airborne pollutants.
Brown spots, known as 'foxing' are the result of moisture reacting with materials used to support the picture, or sometimes the paper the art is painted on. I am not a conservator and I can't remove foxing, but a good mount and frame will help to prevent it from occurring or getting worse.
Keep it clean.
Over time dirt, not to mention those pesky thunder flies, can find their way under the glass of a picture. Good framing will keep dirt and flies out, keeping your picture looking lovely for years.
Enhance your picture
Your artwork deserves to be well displayed. If the frame it too small it will look cramped, but if the frame is too big, the picture can get lost.
The colour and style of the frame are important too. The same picture can take on a completely different feel depending on the style of the frame. Choose a style that you're happy with and will compliment your home.
Professional Service
Wherever possible I use only conservation grade materials and techniques as defined by the Fine Art Trade Guild. This will keep your artwork looking good for longer, up to 20 years!
Some colours of mountboard are not available at conservation grade and you can always choose one of these if you prefer, but using reversible mounting techniques means that the mount can always be replaced when it starts to show its age.
